cPanel error - MySQL: Server sent charset (255) unknown to the client.

Websites hosted on the same cPanel are giving mysql errors. Log is showing

MySQL: Server sent charset (255) unknown to the client.

Default character set is changed to utfmb4 after the release of MySQL8 and that may be one of the causes of the error that occurs.

To Fix, this lets us modify the charset to utf8. Please refer to the following steps for this.

  1. Login to your server via ssh.

  2. Open the /etc/my.cnf file using your favorite editor.

  3. set the default character set to UT8:
[mysqld]
collation-server = utf8_unicode_ci
character-set-server = utf8

The issue should be fixed now.
