How to Migrate Linux Shared Hosting (cPanel) Account to AccuWeb Hosting?

This article will assist you in transferring your websites from the old cPanel host to AccuWeb Hosting.

(Assuming that you have already purchased Web Hosting services from AccuWeb Hosting.)

If you were previously affiliated with another web hosting provider, we suggest you do not cancel your hosting account with your host until you move all your web content to AccuWeb Hosting. Then, you are sure that everything is working fine.

Web Content Migration
First, you will have to take a backup of your web content through cPanel. Then download the backup to your local computer and upload it to the AccuWeb Hosting server, maintaining the same file and folder structure.

If you wish to take backup through FTP, you can refer to our video tutorial on Configuring an FTP client and uploading web files to the Server.

MySQL Database Migration
You must also take a complete backup of all databases from your existing host and restore them to AccuWeb Hosting servers. This can be done via cPanel's phpMyAdmin. Here are the tutorials you can refer to backup and restore the MySQL database from phpMyAdmin.

Email Migration
Usually, emails are not transferred during the data migration, but you can download them from your existing host. You can accomplish this by making a POP3 connection to each mailbox. All your old emails will be downloaded to your local computer.
Here is a tutorial on configuring various email clients and downloading emails on a local computer

Now that you have a copy of your website on both hosting accounts before making DNS changes, it is good to check if your website is working perfectly at AccuWeb Hosting; this can be done by browsing your website using a temporary URL.

http://server-ip-address/~cpanel-username // Server IP address and cPanel username can be found in the cPanel login details email.

Once everything works perfectly at AccuWeb Hosting servers, it's time to change the nameservers. For the Linux Shared Hosting customers, nameservers would be as follows –

For Linux Shared Cloud (Public Cloud) Hosting customers, nameservers would be as follows –

Now log in to the domain control panel (domain registrar panel) and set the nameservers mentioned above. For example, if you bought your domain name from AccuWeb Hosting, we would set our nameservers for you.

Once nameserver changes have been made, you will need to wait 24 to 48 hours before your website loads from our server.

Please note that during the DNS propagation period, your website will randomly load either from the old host or from AccuWeb Hosting servers.

After the DNS propagation period, your website will only load from AccuWeb Hosting servers.
