How to set up email client on Samsung Galaxy S phones?

You can use your Samsung Galaxy device to check your emails by configuring your email accounts on it. Following article will assist you to setup email account in your Samsung Galaxy device. Please note that steps to setup email on Samsung Galaxy device might be different depending on your model, Android OS version and your network provider. However, in this article you will find all essential information to set up your email account.

 

  1. Locate and click on Mail icon on the front screen of the phone. If you have not setup any email account on your Samsung Phone, you will be asked to enter your email address and password.
  2. Enter your email address and password. Once you enter correct details tap on Manual Settings button at the bottom of the screen. At next screen you will get three options.

    • POP3 Account
    • IMAP Account
    • Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync 


  3. You can select your choice of setup by tapping on respective button. If your emails are hosted with AccuWebHosting, you will have to select either POP3 or IMAP. Selecting the appropriate protocol option you will be taken to page asking your for following information.


    IMAP Settings

    User Name Your FULL email address. For example: [email protected].
    Password Enter password of an email account.
    IMAP Server Windows/Linux Shared Hosting customers can use mail.yourdomain.com.
    Port Select one of the following security types and choose respective port number.
    Security Type
    Security Type Port
    None 143
    SSL 993
    SSL (Accept All Certificates) 993
    TLS 993
    TLS (Accepts All Certificates) 993
    IMAP Path Prefix Leave it blank.

    POP Settings

    User Name Your FULL email address. For example: [email protected].
    Password Enter password of an email account.
    IMAP Server Windows/Linux Shared Hosting customers can use mail.yourdomain.com.
    Port Select one of the following security types and choose respective port number.
    Security Type
    Security Type Port
    None 110
    SSL 995
    SSL (Accept All Certificates) 995
    TLS 995
    TLS (Accepts All Certificates) 995
    Delete email from server
    Never Emails won't be removed from server.
    When I delete from Inbox Emails will be removed only when you delete them from your phone's Inbox.


  4. Once you fill up necessary information, tap on Next button. Now, your device will verify that IMAP/POP settings are correct and it could establish the connection successfully. At next screen, you will need to enter Outgoing Server Settings as follows.

    SMTP Settings


    SMTP Server Windows/Linux Shared Hosting customers can use mail.yourdomain.com.
    Port Select SMTP port number based on security type you choose.
    Security Type

    None 25 or 587 or 26
    SSL 465
    SSL (Accept All Certificates) 465
    TLS 465
    TLS (Accepts All Certificates) 465
    Require Sign-in Keep it checked for SMTP authentication.
    Username Your FULL email address.
    Password Password of an email account.


  5. Click on Next button and you will get Account Options screen. You can select the options according to your requirements and click the Next button. At next screen (Set Up Email) give your mailbox a name. You will also be asked for the name you want to display on outgoing emails. Click on Done button to finish the wizard.
