How do I transfer bulk emails from one folder to another in SmarterMail?

Sometimes, we need to transfer big number of emails from one folder to another folder. You may find transfer process little difficult, if you perform it through Webmail and you have big number of emails. However, it is an easy task if you perform it through Remote Desktop. Let's see how:

Following steps are applied to SmarterMail version 8.x to 13.x

In this case, we will transfer emails from Inbox folder to some other folder called temp.

  1. Create a temp folder (or any other destination folder) at your desired path.

  2. Stop the SmarterMail service from Sevices:
    • Go to Run → Type services.msc
    • Locate SmaterMail Services and stop it from left pane.

  3. Now, go to Inbox (source folder) folder. Path would be like as follow:
    C:\SmarterMail\Domains\domainname.com\Users\user\mail\Inbox SmarterMail_Source_path

Go to Domain Name Folder under C: Drive

  4. Here, you will see many files with .grp and .eml extensions and a mailbox.cfg file (configuration file).

  5. Copy these .grp or .eml files from the Inbox (Source) folder and copy them in temp (Destination) folder.

Copy .grp and .eml Files from Inbox (Source) to temp (Destination) Folder

  6. Rename mailbox.cfg file at both paths: Inbox (Source) and temp (Destination) folder. (New configuration file will be created automatically)

  7. Start the SmarterMail service
    • Go to Run → Type services.msc
    • Locate SmaterMail Services and start it from left pane.

  8. Verify the emails from Webmail.
