In this article, we have mentioned steps on how to change the ASP.net version of the website from IIS.

Step 1. Login into the server using the Remote Desktop Application.

Step 2. Click on Start Menu,

Step 3. Navigate to the Control Panel -> System and Security->Administrative ToolsAdministrative Tools, and then open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.

Step 4. Click on Application Pools, and locate the application pool for your website.

Step 5. Right-click on your website's application pool and click on Basic Settings.

Step 6. Change the ASP.NET version from the drop-down menu under the .NET CLR Version.

There is a difference between the .NET Framework Version and the .NET CLR Version of the AppPool. Following are the .NET Framework Versions based on the .NET CLR Version 4.0:

.NET CLR 4.0

.NET Framework 4

.NET Framework 4.5

.NET Framework 4.5.1

.NET Framework 4.5.2

.NET Framework 4.6

.NET Framework 4.6.1

.NET Framework 4.6.2

.NET Framework 4.7

.NET Framework 4.7.1

.NET Framework 4.7.2

.NET Framework 4.8

You can run the above .net frameworks under the .NET CLR Version of 4.0.

.NET CLR 2.0

.NET Framework 2.0

.NET Framework 3.0

.NET Framework 3.5

You can run the above .net frameworks under the .NET CLR Version of 2.0.

Step 7. Now click on the OK button and recycle the application pool.

That’s it.
