- A Redirect rule is used for switching one URL to another URL. In redirection, the URL changes in the browser address bar.
- A Rewrite rule is generally used to redirect the same site with different relative paths. In this, the URL does not change the original URL. It simply provides the content as per the rule destination at the original path.
